Mendut Temple

A short distance from Borobodur is Mendut Temple. Although its not very big, you shouldn't miss it. On the outside, this temple resembles the many Hindu temples of central Java, but inside you will find some of the most beautiful Buddha images in all of Java. Actually, there are three images. In the center is a seated Buddha, flanked on either side by two Bodhisattvas.

The carved panels on the exterior are still in good shape, and also show many incarnations of the Buddha.

Admission to the temple costs 5,000 Rupiah (0.55 USD).
