Shopping Singapore

We saw somewhere that Singapore claims to have invented "shop 'til you drop." We're not so sure they invented it, but they certainly seem to have gone a long way to perfecting it. Prices on everything from designer clothes to the latest in digital electronics are among the lowest in the world. While the number of shopping centers and districts seems almost infinite, for the full-on experience, head for the intersection of Orchard and Scotts roads (Orchard MRT station). Of course, this is where just about everyone else goes, so you'll probably find yourself clawing through some crowds, but that's all part of the fun, isn't it?

Other shopping malls in the city include Vivo City at Harbourfront, Raffles City, and Suntec.

Singapore Sale

Every year from late May to late July is the big Singapore Sale. Every major retailer offers reduced prices on some or all of their stock. Discounts are usually 20% to 25% although clearance items may be up to 50% or more off.

Electronics

You'll find home electronics just about everywhere in the city. For computers and digital electronics, head to Funan Center on North Bridge road, a short walk from the City Hall MRT station. The more down and dirty components for the DIY set can be found at Sim Lim Square.
